I've been teaching Family and Consumer Sciences for 30 years and believe that our courses will help our students THRIVE (Teamwork, Healthy Living, Relationships, Independence, Vocation, Employment Skills).
For the past seventeen years, I've enjoyed being a GRADS Coordinator, serving pregnant and parenting adolescents within several local school districts. I'm a member of OATFACS/ACTE (Ohio Association Teachers of Family & Consumer Sciences). I currently serve on the board of First Steps Parenting Advocacy Center. I've been a member of FLAPEC (Family Life and Parent Educators Coalition) since 2001 and served as chairwoman for this wonderful organization. Additionally, I have served on the Family & Child Development Advisory Council at the University of Akron.
Some of my personal achievements include being a breast cancer survivor which encouraged me to become co-founder of In This Together BCS, a growing organization that makes Hug Blankets for those battling cancer. I also have a passion for children's literacy which sparked my interest to become the author of The ABC's of Reading to Your Child, a handbook for young parents.
